Vegetarian Friendly Restaurants in Jakarta

Living a vegetarian lifestyle in Jakarta isn’t the easiest thing to do. Sure there’s plenty of fried tofu and tempe on the streets, probably enough for you to eat forever until you’re sick, but sometimes you just want something a little more…. yum.

Do note that some (if not most) of the restaurants that we’ll be listing here are not strictly vegetarian or vegan. These places will, however, have quite a few vegetarian or vegan options and is probably your best bet in Jakarta.

We’ve already done an article on some of the more famous Vegetarian Restaurants in Jakarta, so this time we’ve dug deep to find some others.

Smoo Bowls

Judy Hopps Smoothie Bowl

One of the latest healthy eateries in Jakarta is Smoo Bowls, SCBD. While it’s not a full-blown restaurant, even vegetarians need something to snack on. Smoothie bowl bars in Jakarta have been popping up left and right recently, a late adaptation from Bali’s ever-popular Nalu Bowls. If you’re not in the SCBD area, there are several other bars around town, so don’t get disappointed.

Publik Markette

A favourite of many Jakartans since its opening, Publik Markette, Grand Indonesia serves consistently high standards of food (both for omnivores and vegetarians). While most of their menu is in rotation, you can hope to see some great salads, vegetarian quiches, roasted vegetables and other such things. However we do recommend the Blonde Quinoa & Grilled Eggplant Salad  as well as their Kabocha Pumpkin & Sage Ravioli.

SaladStop! Senayan

Whether you’re vegetarian or not, you just can’t miss out on SaladStop! Senayan. Their four-step salad bar makes for a quick, easy and very healthy lunch. Choose from their signature mixed salad recipes or choose one of your own. We recommend trying their Gardens by the Grain, a warm bowl of quinoa with baby spinach, feta cheese, roasted veg, toasted almonds and so much more. If you’re looking for something more traditional, then their Go Geisha is a must try! A raw cabbage salad infused with Japanese flavours and ingredients such as tofu, soba, edamame and miso.

Super Loco, SCBD

One of Jakarta’s newer Mexican restaurants, Super Loco, SCBD carries an extensive menu of not only cocktails, but also great (vegetarian) food! Most of their mains have an option of protein or vegetarian. We particularly like the Huitlacoche Tostaditas, four bite sized crispy tortillas topped with mexican truffle, wild mushrooms, corn, goats cheese and salsa serrano. If that sounds a little too extravagant, then go for the Calabacin Ensalada, a grilled zucchini salad topped with tequila soaked raisins, almonds, queso fresco, lemon and coriander.

When: Monday – Sunday; 11:00 – 2:00am

Where: Pacific Place, GF
East Lobby (near the Silver Bird taxi rank)
