Here’s a post for all of our fashionable JKTGOers!
Last Thursday, 30th Decemeber 2015, one of Indonesia’s top fashion designers, Widhi Budimulia, teamed up with Jakarta’s Best City Hotel, the Gran Melia Hotel Jakarta, to showcase an elegant womenswear collection marking his 30th year in fashion.
The collection was a mix of all things traditional, innovative, romantic and real.
The Red Line of 30 Years, Widhi Budimulia’s Portraiture consisted of thirty looks symbolising his thirty year journey within the Indonesian fashion industry.
Heads up! This post is picture heavy and very beautiful.

Featured in his show were models of all ages, some of whom had modeled for the designer very early in his fashion career. These graceful ladies stole the stage from the get-go in black gowns during the first segment – a colour normally reserved for the finale.
What followed were feather-light tulle dresses contrasted with heavy brocade fabrics. The neutral palette of these ethereal dresses were adorned with numerous Swarovski crystals that played with and reflected the stage lights. Indonesian jewellery designer, Elizabeth Wahyu, added an extra element to the showcase with her accessories.
Following on from that was an explosion of colour. Greens, yellows, blues and reds in traditional, highly feminine silhouettes and cuts. Fitted lace and silk tulle bodices were paired with playful circle skirts and dramatic flowing trains. These all culminated in Widhi Budimulia’s Inspired by Red designs.
At the completion of the evening, Gran Melia Jakarta owners Christine and Reggie Suriadjaja lit the hotel’s magical six-metre tall Christmas Tree to mark the beginning of the holiday season for Gran Melia Kuningan.
Hotel Gran Melia Jakarta recently won the Travel Trade Gazette’s (TTG) 2015 Travel Award for Best City Hotel in Jakarta. Make sure to pay Gran Melia Jakarta a visit if you’re ever in town.
