Sophisticated León

When it comes to South Jakarta, we really love exploring its culinary sides. Somehow, it’s exciting because we always find many unique and cool places around there. Do you think the same way we do?

We got a chance to visit the newest restaurant and coffee shop at Jalan Wijaya. Both are situated in the same area and established by De La House Project, the same company that brought Parc 19, Kemang. We’re going to tell you all about both places, but first let us tell you a bit about León Jakarta.

When we entered the room, we were quite amazed because we weren’t expecting it to be so spacious. Go down the stairs and you will find an impressive counter and bar rack, a cosy ambiance, and the finest music to accompany your dinner.

The interior design is reminiscent of busy work day lunches in New York surrounded by good food, good friends, and comfy leather couch. It would be perfect for lunch, catching up with friends, or getting wild with some cocktails in your hand.

Short Ribs

This one is our favourite! The beef was cooked very well, as you can see the meat is tender and juicy. It was completed with fluffy steamed rice, vegetables and two types of sauce. This dish really satisfied our stomach and tastebuds. Highly recommended if you have no other idea what to order.

Asian Salmon

The sauce is nice, salmon was cooked very well. If you’re a fan of salmon, you might want to order this. But for the main course, our favourite still goes to the Short Ribs. Carnivore FTW yo!

Seafood Platter

The Seafood Platter is one of the appetisers that you can order to share with friends. The platter consists of fish, clams, squid, shrimp, and potatoes and comes up with three types of sauce. It’s not anything extraordinary but the seafood is fresh and it’s a good dish to order if you want to try a little bit of everything.

Frozen Monkey

Something sweet for closure? Well, if you prefer something other than dessert, you can just sip on this Frozen Monkey cocktail. We’re sure that by the name alone you would know that there will be a banana in there somewhere. Basically it’s a banana-based cocktail. A little bit of alcohol with a slightly sweet taste from the banana.

Our verdict? This place is highly recommended if you want to live up your mood with some friends around because of the sophisticated and comfy atmosphere. Foods are okay but it’s still worth a try. It’s quite impressive for a newcomer in J-town though. Best of luck León!
