March ’17 Recap: Food Mayhem in Jakarta

March has come and gone in the blink of an eye and we know how hard it is to keep up with trends when you’re so busy with work and school. This month has been the month of healthy food (as opposed to February’s month of love). Below is our list of March favourites – maybe you can try them out in April?

Concrete Working Space

Concrete Working Space is, as the name suggests, one of Jakarta’s newest co-working spaces open to the public. Ever since the Jakarta Creative Hub was announced and open to public for day-tours, interest in co-working spaces and creative hubs have peaked. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to become a tenant at the JCH, however, other privately-owned working spaces are still available and one such space is the Concrete Working Space. You can read more about Concrete Working Space here.

Whilst they only have one outlet currently, they also serve their delicious desserts at Common Grounds’ newest location in Neo Soho.

Common Grounds, Jakarta, one of Jakarta’s most iconic coffee roasters has finally opened its doors in the new Neo Soho Mall, Tanjung Duren. Supplier to some of Jakarta’s coolest cafes and restaurants, Common Grounds, Neo Soho is the place for coffee connoisseurs and lovers alike. Close to offices and universities, we think it’s about time this side of Jakarta gets its own great coffee place.

They also serve desserts from La Maison as written above.

Smoo Bowls, SCBD

While smoothie bowls have gained and lost its fame over in Bali, Jakarta has just started to see the first couple of smoothie bowl bars popping up. One of the OG smoothie bowl bars in Jakarta was Berrywell, but recently a new face has appeared. Meet Smoo Bowls, SCBD, a new smoothie bowl bar that caters to the needs of our lovely Southern Jakarta friends. Their mixes are colourful, fun and naturally sweet. Great for a little pick-me-up whether you’re on a diet or not.

We recently features Smoo Bowls, SCBD in our list of vegetarian-friendly places in Jakarta.

SCBD, South Jakarta

Honu Poke and Matcha Bar, Kemang

It wouldn’t be 2017 without a poke bar on the list. Honu Poke Bar, Kemang is one of Jakarta’s newest poke bars. The trend is slow to catch on in Indonesia, but we’re sure that in just a couple a months they’ll be popping up everywhere. For those who don’t know, poke is a Hawaiian-style dish similar to the Japanese chirashi – chunks of fresh salmon, tuna and your choice of toppings over a bed of white or brown rice. What’s not to love about that? (Dogs are welcome too!)

When: Tuesday – Thursday; 10:00 – 20:00
Friday – Sunday; 10:00 – 21:00

Where: Jl. Raya Kemang Selatan No. 125,
Kemang, South Jakarta
