History and food is not always walking together. People always assume history as a very heavy subject, boring and tend to be overwhelming. However that is not the case with UDONKU. The recently born restaurant from KAWANO Group, is trying to bring a small part of Japan’s history for their customers to enjoy. Capturing “Edo Period” as their specific theme, UDONKU recreate a small piece from the history to the present. Edo Period, taking the time during the 1600s to the 1800s, is one of the most well-known period in Japan’s long history. Most people acknowledge it as the era where Samurais were all around Japan. Street vendors and restaurants were also everywhere in Edo. Wood, dark brown, and low lights. Those specific elements are what UDONKU is trying to recreate.

Not only focusing on its interior and ambiance, it also offers a very delicious selections of Japanese original udon’s taste. According to it’s name, UDONKU is translated as “Udon District”. Customers may select their own kind of udon. UDONKU offers three selection of soups, the white soup (Kansai Style), the black soup (Kantou Style), and curry soup. There are also wide range of topping selection to try to. With this method, The udon they order will be their own “UDONKU” (My Udon).
