In 2019, the United States are Indonesia are celebrating 70 years of our bilateral relations. This yearlong celebration has been a chance to bring together the people of our two countries to celebrate diversity, partnership, and prosperity. To engage the public in celebrating the anniversary, the U.S. Embassy Jakarta, together with Indonesia’s state news agency Antara, will organize a week-long photojournalism exhibition from November 5 to 10, 2019 at the National Library of Indonesia, titled “Capturing U.S.-Indonesia Relations Through a Journalistic Lens 1949-2019” (or “Membidik Hubungan Bilateral AS-Indonesia Lewat Lensa Jurnalistik 1949-2019” in Indonesian). This exhibition features 70 powerful press photographs that immortalize historic moments from the history of U.S.-Indonesian diplomatic relations. We hope they will start conversations about our next seventy years of diplomatic and people-to-people ties.
The exhibition will also include sideline events such as a photojournalism discussion, history discussion, and information session about studying in the United States and U.S.-government funded exchange programs. The exhibition and series of events will engage the Indonesian public to learn about, exchange information and ideas on, and discuss the history and journey of the relationship between our two countries.
