Jakarta Textile Museum, built in the early 19th century, the Textile Museum building has changed ownership several times. Originally a villa owned by a French citizen Defence Force (BKR) in the strunggle to defend Indonesia's newly proclaimed ondependence, the building-with Arts and Craft architecture - was inagurated as the textile museum on June 28, 1976, in Jakarta by Mme. Tien Soeharto, Indonesia's Second Lady. Till date, the Textile Museum collection host a number of 2350 pieces and include 86 batiks, 819 weavings, 425 mixed collection, 70 tools, and 150 contemporary textiles.
